Happy National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day

There are some national days that are hard to get involved with, but I'm sure you will have no problem celebrating this one! Chocolate chip cookies are a classic dessert loved by those young and young at heart. With everything the world is going through right now we could all use some chocolatey ooey goodness. Here is an easy recipe from Joanna Gaines cookbook, Magnolia Table, that anyone can do whether you are a world renown baker or a baker in your own world. 


Ingredients:

  1. 2 Cups of brown sugar
  2. 1 stick soften butter
  3. 2 eggs
  4. 1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  5. 2 1/2 cups flour
  6. 1/2 teaspoon salt
  7. 1 heaping teaspoon of baking soda
  8. 3/4 bag chocolate chips

Directions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Add brown sugar and butter to a stand mixer and beat on low until well combined buy chunky. Add eggs and vanilla and continue to mix.
  • Next add the flour, salt and baking soda. Start on low speed, increase to medium and then to high speed and allow to mix until ingredients are well combined
  • Add the chocolate chips and mix for a few seconds on medium to high speed.
  • Spoon or place cookies about one inch apart (about 12 dollops) on baking sheet lined with wax paper and bake for 12 to 15 minutes.

Now I understand that some of you may not want to make cookies from scratch. That's okay! Toll House cookies are so good it will make you forget that your didn't make these bad boys from the beginning.

However you celebrate just don't forget to celebrate together! Have your family help you bake or zoom call your friends and have a baking party. Enjoy this ooey gooey day with the people who melt your ooey gooey heart.
