Tom Brady Shares His Favorite Healthy Guacamole Recipe
The TB12 Chunky Guac recipe, a staple of the star quarterback's TB12 diet, calls for standard ingredients like avocado, onion, garlic, jalapeño, and citrus juice. He brightens it up a bit by adding some citrus zest and fresh basil, as well. In perhaps a controversial turn of events, though, Brady calls for you to "skip the chips" and serve it with veggie sticks or sweet potato toasts instead (see full recipe below).
Brady and the Buccaneers will square off against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs at Super Bowl LV on Feb. 7 at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay.
The TB12 Chunky Guac
¼ cup diced white onion, rinsed and strained
1 garlic clove, finely grated or minced
¼ teaspoon ground coriander
½It green jalapeño, seeded and finely diced (optional)
1 Tbsp. fresh lemon or lime juice, plus 1 tsp. zest
1/2 tsp. Himalayan salt (you can add more to taste at the end)
1 ripe Haas avocado
12 fresh basil leaves, thinly sliced
1. Place the onion, garlic, salt, coriander, citrus juice and zest, jalapeño in a bowl, and mix well.
2. Run your knife around each avocado lengthwise, carefully cutting down to the pit. Twist the avocado in half and remove the pit. With the cut side up, slice the avocado into cubes. With a spoon scoop the cubes of 1/2 the avocado into the bowl, mash with a fork until smooth, add the cubes of the second half of the avocado and the basil and fold into mix, mashing slightly but leaving big chunks mostly intact.
3. Adjust salt to taste and serve immediately. Skip the chips and serve with veggie sticks or Sweet Potato Toast instead!

Tom Brady’s Healthy Hummus Recipe
Message From TB12: "This smooth and creamy hummus is loaded with slow-digesting carbs, healthy fibers, and plenty of protein to help you stay satisfied longer. Its monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats can help keep your brain healthy, provide nourishment to your cells, and keep your heart ticking properly. Essentially, it’s the perfect snack food."
TB 12 Hummus
Makes 4-6 servings (1/4 to 1/2 cup)
Takes: 15 minutes
Ingredients
1 1/2 cups cooked chickpeas or 1 (15 oz) can
1-2 medium cloves garlic
2 scallions (white and green parts only) chopped
1/3 cup of good-quality organic tahini (tahini separates; best to use the tahini paste, oil reserved)
1 lemon, juice + zest
1 of Himalayan salt
¼ teaspoon ground cumin
2 tablespoons organic extra virgin olive oil
¼ cup cooking water from the chickpeas, or purified water, adding more if needed
Pinch of smoked paprika
Instructions
1. Place everything but the oil and water in a food processor.
2. Blend for about a minute, then scrape down the sides with a silicone spatula and blend for another minute or so. With the food processor running, add the olive oil, then add the water until the mixture is smooth and well combined, continuing to scrape down the sides as needed.
3. We like to leave the hummus a little creamier than usual, as it will thicken as it cools. Store in a glass container with an airtight lid and top with a little more olive oil and a sprinkle of smoked paprika.
Go For the Gold!
For an additional anti-inflammatory antioxidant boost, add 1 teaspoon of good-quality organic turmeric powder, a few slices of peeled fresh ginger, and a few turns of freshly ground black pepper alongside the chickpeas and other ingredients before blending.
Go Green!
For additional flavor and nutrition boost, add up to a ½ cup of fresh herbs (parsley, chives, cilantro, or mint) and 1 cup of greens (spinach, kale, or arugula) and an additional squeeze of lemon to the mix before blending.
Brady, who will play in his tenth overall Super Bowl but first with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, shared the recipe in the latest edition of his New York Times best-selling lifestyle book, The TB12 Method: How to Do What You Love Better and For Longer.
